A man accused in the killing of two people in a Texas tent camp has been charged with murder, authorities said Tuesday.
Michael Covington, 24, was arrested Sunday at the camp after police say he killed two people and wounded several others at the Covingtons Home on the Black Forest Trail in the Texas Panhandle.
Authorities say Covingson killed James R. Williams, 47, and his wife, Jennifer R. Scott, 43, at the home after he went to check on them at about 9 p.m. on Saturday.
Authorities said Covingtons wife, who lived at the Black Forrest Trail Camp, called 911 at around 1 a.m., telling dispatchers that she and her husband had been attacked by a man with a knife and that the man tried to stab her.
Authorities then say Cushington went to the Black Trail Camp and called the Sheriff’s Office, who found the couple dead.
Covington was arrested by the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force in Houston and is being held without bond.
